Week 9 - Learning 2.0 Experience

At first I was hesitant about this exercise - I wasn't sure if I would have the time to do it. I did get a little behind at times, but I have finally finished. My favorite exercise was the one on web widgets - it's a fun way to personalize your blog. I'm not the most computer literate person around, but I have to admit I have learned alot. It is important to keep up with current technology in your personal life as well as work related activities. One has to be able to assist customers as well as coworkers when needed. This has been a very fulfilling experience.

Week 9 - Web 2.0

I don't understand what all of the hype is - maybe it's because I'm not on the Internet all day long, or it's a generational thing. I do recognize the importance of Web 2.0 and being familiar with it enough to be able to assist customers.

Week 8 - Social Networking

For this week's lesson I listened to the podcast and watched the 2 videos. I also took a look at
Facebook. It was easy to access and enjoyable to look at peoples' pages. I can understand why
so many people use it to keep in touch. I don't see how it would be pertinent to use it at work.

LinkedIn is a more professional site which I may use in the future. Social networking can be beneficial in communication with co-workers as well other professionals. In today's times it is essential to use it in advancing one's career.

Week 7 - Web Widgets & Gadgets

This week's lesson was fun. It was easy to do and and enjoyable. One could spend hours just looking at all of the widgets that have been posted. Widgets allow you to personalize your blog and lets others know what types of things you are interested in personally. I don't know if using them would improve efficiency at work-that would take a little more investigation.

Week 6 - Tags, Folksonomy and Social Bookmarking

For this week's lesson I watched the 2 videos and did the Delicious tutorial. I experienced some difficulty installing the buttons. I successfully added tags to some bookmarks fairly easily.

Using tags and social bookmarking can be beneficial in the workplace. It is helpful to access projects from someplace else than your workstation as well as have input from others with common interests.

Week 5 - Multimedia

This week I decided to learn about photosharing. I don't have a lot of experience doing it myself but would like to learn eventually. It is an excellent way to keep your photos safe as well as organized. It is also a fun way to keep in touch with family and friends.

Week 4 - Instant Messaging

Using Instant Messaging is very easy. It is a great tool to use to communicate with someone or to have an information inquiry answered quickly. The question that I sent to ASK VBPL was answered right away - very convenient! Using IM at work could be very helpful in the workroom.
